Verses of the day - Genesis 3:2-3 (NRSV)
The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden; but God said, "You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, nor shall you touch it, or you shall die.
In chapter 1 of my third book, Jesus speaks to us about the forbidden fruit.
Excerpt from Come To The Cross
I gave Adam all the animals I created, and he named them. Even though Adam had many animals, he was still lonely. It was then that I cast a deep sleep on him. While he was asleep, I took one of his ribs and formed Eve. After this, Adam found great love. I blessed them abundantly with food from the earth. Eve was deceived by the serpent in the garden at Eden. Through this deception, Eve took a bite of the forbidden fruit. It was then that sin entered the world.
Before the serpent in the garden at Eden deceived Eve with the forbidden fruit, the earth was free from sin. It was through the bite of the forbidden fruit that sin entered the world. It was the serpent who tempted Adam and Eve to question what God had told them. We have been given free will by God. Being tempted to do wrong is not sin. It is when we give in to the temptation, that it becomes sin. The Ten Commandments were given to us for instructions on how to live our life. It is up to us to decide to follow the Ten Commandments.
